Support Foster Families
If you have a heart for foster and adoptive kids, but aren't in a place to foster or adopt, you can still be an important part of the solution by joining one of our care communities! Only 50% of foster parents will continue fostering after their first year, but more than 90% of families supported by a care community will continue beyond the first year. Think of the amazing difference you could make to help improve stability in the life of a foster kid. Join one of our care communities to serve a foster or adoptive family.
ROYAL FAMILY KIDS' CAMP
Royal Family Kids' Camp (RFKC) is a weeklong overnight camp with the goal of providing positive memories for children 7 to 11 years old from the local foster care community. Royal Family Kids' Camp provides a safe environment for children who have been victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment to experience life-changing moments in a Christ-centered environment.
We do two camps each year, and we are always in need of volunteers. We need all kinds of volunteers, from camp counselors to activity assistants to kitchen workers.
2026 Camp Dates:
Week 1 Camp: July 12–17
Week 2 Camp: August 9–14
Mandatory Training Dates:
All staff must attend one Session #1 and the Session #2 that corresponds to their camp week. Training runs from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with breakfast served at 8:30 a.m.
Training Session #1 (choose ONE):
Saturday, May 2 OR Saturday, May 30
Training Session #2:
For July Camp staff: Saturday, June 27
For August Camp staff: Saturday, August 1
Volunteer FAQs
I would love to volunteer but I can't do overnight. Do you have any other opportunities?
Absolutely, we always need additional hands for Monday morning registration. This year we would need help on Monday 07/13 and 08/10. Commitment is from 7a-9a. Email us at communications@crossassembly.org if interested.
Can my kids also sign up to volunteer?
Because of the demographic we serve, the majority of our volunteers need to be at least 18 years old. However, we do take a select group of mature 16-17 years old. If you have a 16-17 year-old who wants to volunteer, they need to go through the interview process.
Can I bring my dog(s) to camp?
No. We always have a therapeutic/service dog with us. These animals are thoroughly vetted by our leadership team. We need to ensure that is a 100% safe place for our campers.
I want to volunteer, but I can only do 3 days.
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to accept "part-time" volunteers. You should consider helping out Monday morning for registration..
I want to volunteer, but I'm nervous and I'm not sure what I'll be doing.
First of all, if the Lord is speaking to you to sign up, then you should. Second, we have a lot of training that is purposefully designed to best equip you for your week of camp. There are plenty of opportunities to serve either as counselors or support staff. Our returning volunteers are the best and everyone is very encouraging.
How much training do I have to commit to?
As a new volunteer you will need to commit to a 4-hour online training course, in addition to 2 full Saturdays.
What's the actual time commitment for camp?
We leave on Sunday morning after second service, and come back Friday afternoon.
TEENWORKS
On a path towards success
TeenWorks is an all-day Saturday event, held 9 to 10 times per year, providing 40+ teenage RFKC graduates with the building blocks to develop a hope for their future and help put them on a path toward life success (Jeremiah 29:11).
Our goal is to provide teens with activities that teach them valuable life skills, including options for what's next after high school (careers, colleges, technical schools), community service opportunities, and various learning opportunities. Other activities include guest speakers, tours of local colleges and universities, and work-based learning.
Volunteers are needed to serve on Saturdays, approximately once every five weeks during the school year.
